Festival Brought Together Local and National Institutions with Participation from Nearly 2,000 Athletes
Surathkal, Karnataka | February 2, 2026: National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal successfully concluded the first edition of its Annual Sports Festival, ‘Endeavor 2026’, marking a significant milestone in the institute’s commitment to promoting sporting excellence, wellness, and holistic development.
Held over two days at the NITK campus, Endeavor 2026 emerged as one of the largest inter-institutional sporting events in coastal Karnataka. The festival brought together professional institutions, athletes, sports clubs, associations, and federations from across the region and the country, with participation from over 2,000 athletes, reflecting the growing momentum for organised sports within higher education institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. B. Ravi, Director, NITK Surathkal, said, “Endeavor reflects NITK’s vision of nurturing well-rounded individuals by integrating physical development with academic excellence. Through this festival, we aim to provide a national platform for young athletes, encourage collaboration among institutions, and foster a culture of fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship both on and beyond campus.”
The inaugural ceremony took place at the New Sports Complex (Athletic Track) and was graced by Ms. Shreema Priyadarshini, International Athlete and Model and Ms. Saranya Raju, International Taekwondo Player.
Endeavor 2026 featured competitions across Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Football, Swimming, and Volleyball, with events conducted for both men and women. The professionally managed sporting environment emphasised teamwork, fair play, discipline, and the pursuit of excellence, supported by modern infrastructure and best practices.
In addition to inter-institutional competitions, NITK also organised an intra-NITK athletics championship for students, faculty, and staff, reinforcing community bonding and promoting fitness across the campus.
The festival concluded with the Valedictory and Closing Ceremony at the New Sports Complex on February 1, 2026, celebrating outstanding performances and reaffirming NITK’s long-term commitment to sports and student wellbeing.
With the successful launch of Endeavor, NITK Surathkal has institutionalized an annual platform that complements academic rigor with physical excellence, reinforcing the institute’s holistic approach to education and nation-building.
