Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India’s Under-19 squads for the upcoming ICC Men’s U19 World Cup 2026 and the preparatory series against South Africa U19. Ayush Mhatre has been appointed captain for the U19 World Cup; however, he will miss the South Africa tour due to a wrist injury.

In his absence, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been entrusted with the captaincy for the South Africa series, with Aaron George named vice-captain. Interestingly, both the designated World Cup captain Ayush Mhatre and vice-captain Vihaan Malhotra will not feature in the South Africa tour.

The ICC Men’s U19 World Cup 2026 is set to begin on January 15 and will be hosted across Zimbabwe and Namibia, with the final scheduled for February 6.

Ahead of the World Cup, India U19 will face South Africa U19 in a three-match ODI series on January 3, 5, and 7. With Suryavanshi leading the side, the series is expected to provide valuable preparation and a glimpse into India’s bench strength.
