Mumbai: Anjuman I-Islam Allana continued their supremacy in school cricket by lifting the 129th Harris Shield 2025, registering an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Al-Barkaat MMI English School in the final at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. The win marked Anjuman’s second consecutive Harris Shield triumph, underlining their all-round strength and composure on the big stage.
Batting on the third day, Al-Barkaat MMI English School resumed their second innings confidently and finished on 243 for 3 in 40 overs. Arhaan Patel led the charge with a classy unbeaten century, scoring 105, while Pradnyankur Bhalerao provided solid support with 67 not out. Yuvan Sharma was the lone bright spot with the ball for Anjuman, picking up two wickets.
Set a modest target, Anjuman I-Islam made light work of the chase in their final innings, racing to 111 for 2 in just 19.5 overs to seal the title comfortably.
Earlier, resuming on Day 2, Anjuman I-Islam built a strong first-innings total of 268 for 9 in 80 overs. Laxmanprasad Vishwakarma (55) and Aarav Yadav (52) laid the foundation, while Yuvraj Bhingare played a crucial unbeaten knock of 73 off 106 balls, laced with five fours and two sixes. Yuvan Sharma chipped in with a brisk 31. For Al-Barkaat, Abrar Shaikh was outstanding with the ball, returning exceptional figures of 7 for 80 from 21 overs, including four maidens.
In their second innings, Al-Barkaat showed resilience and intent, reaching 212 for 3 in 36 overs at stumps on Day 2. Arhaan Patel once again stood tall with a brilliant 94 not out, supported by Pradnyankur Bhalerao (50*), while Aakash Mangde and Ishaan Pathak chipped in with 32 runs each.
The match began with Al-Barkaat winning the toss and opting to bat first. They were bowled out for 135 in 40.5 overs after a promising start turned into a middle-order collapse. Arhaan Patel top-scored with a fluent 61 off 70 balls. Anjuman’s bowlers dominated, with Yuvan Sharma claiming a five-wicket haul (5/38) and Aarav Yadav providing excellent support with 4/32.
In reply, the defending champions Anjuman ended Day 1 strongly at 109 for 1 in 39 overs, thanks to a steady unbeaten 52 from Laxmanprasad Vishwakarma and a fluent 45 not out by Aarav Yadav, putting them firmly in control of the final.
With disciplined bowling, consistent batting contributions, and calm execution under pressure, Anjuman I-Islam Allana once again proved why they are the benchmark in Mumbai’s elite school cricket.
